Ten sentenced of cyber-bullying directed at Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has convicted ten people for carrying out the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced allegations of spreading false claims regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to publishing malicious remarks about the husband and wife's significant age difference.
The court issued conditional custodial sentences of a maximum of eight months to the defendants. The full ruling has not yet been published.
A persistent false narrative suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has spread widely since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France comes as the Macrons engaging in a libel case in the United States against political commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the first lady's gender.
Their complaint contends that Owens ignored substantial counter-evidence that refuted her assertions choosing instead to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has often echoed these assertions on her show and social media channels, and in March 2024 declared that she would risk all her credibility on her belief that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her future husband when she worked as an educator at his lycée.
The couple entered into matrimony in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was 54.
