Much like the recent storm tore through the northwest the night before, the home side swept United away at the Etihad Stadium. It was a statement three-nil win for the City coach's side thanks to goals from Knaak, Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a result that clearly signaled their title credentials as they strengthened their place at the top of the table.

Consecutive Setbacks for United

This scoreline marked consecutive league defeats for the United manager's side for the initial occasion since spring 2024, putting them seven points off the top team with their title hopes in serious doubt.
